This is the kind of thing that makes me want to move to Brooklyn instead of Maine. Well, this and Etsy Labs. I'm forever torn between an urge to get away from it all, and be in the middle of it. On one hand, my hyper sensitive skin and my newfound allergic-ness to everything would do much better out in the middle of nowhere. But the idea of joining a community full of crafty hipsters who are as nutty, or possibly nuttier than myself is awfully tempting... What to do. To bad S. Bobleo doesn't seem to want to go either place.
I splurged a few dollars of my tax return on a new techy-crafty item. Namely, a Flip DV camera! This little camera doesn't have the most impressive resolution, or the most settings, options, frills, etc... But for under 165 bucks I got it shipped to my door accompanied by a matching, flexible tripod. It shoots videos that are just good enough for youtube, and that's just what I need it for. Michelle and I have some kickass plans for this camera. In the meantime, I whipped up this little test run with Windows Movie Maker. Just for kicks here is a quick video tour of the current state of my desk.
I've been meaning to post about this forever, but what with the move and all this was my first chance. I won a contest over at IndieFixx recently and got the coolest prize! I won two sets of personalized stationary from Anna Bella Stationary, a very cool indie shop that does GORGEOUS work. I picked out my two favorite sets and in no time I opened my mailbox to find it had arrived. It was wrapped up pin a beautiful gift box and tied with a matching ribbon. I immediately tore it open and let me tell you - it was even better than I expected! Everything is perfectly printed on high quality textured paper, the colors are bright, the lines are clean. It's perfect!
There is something so fancy about having a set of personalized stationary. I feel all feminine and grown up every time I look at it. The only trouble is that it's so pretty I don't want to ruin it by writing on it!
Here is a photo of what it looked like all wrapped up. (Of course, they did a MUCH better job. My crappy bow is just a sad imitation.)
And here are the goods! The first set is in the Branches motif.
And the second set is Somerset in chocolate. I was torn about the color, but I figured brown was classic and could suit all occasions.
I also got lucky at Nate's Wife's Blog. She held a sweet comments contest where I won this cute little ATC. Doesn't that dragon cooking breakfast just beat all? I'm putting it up in the kitchen somewhere once I find a tiny frame.
My BFF Melissa, came by to pick up our old dryer the other day. I couldn't resist snapping a few pics of my favorite cabbage patch kid, Gia! As with most babies, these pictures don't really do her justice. She is SO cute when she smiles and she is very expressive. We're all crossing our fingers that she'll keep those beautiful blue eyes. Gia's uncle (who recently passed away) is the only person in the family with blue eyes.
Here is little Gia sleeping in her car seat. I was going sans flash so its a little blurry.
Now she is awake!! She is so tiny!!
She seriously looks like she belongs in a cabbage patch, don't you think? I love!!
Found this incredible post while reading this blog. Hee Hee. I feel like a blog frog but I couldn't resist re-linking.
So my CDs were in my craft room all along. As I Oh so eloquently put it to my sister, Sarah, the other day, "Sometimes you're wrong about shit." Shrug. So maybe a certain Bobleo was unjustly blamed, sheesh. What am I? The-whose-fault-it-was-when-the-cd's-were-stolen-except-they-weren't-actually-stolen-but-lost-by-me-expert?! God. What (dramatic pause) ever. Need I remind the public that if he hadn't left the door unlocked I never would have accused him ANYWAY? AND I proabably would have found them much earlier. THANKS A LOT SCOTT.
hehehehehehhehehe
Boy Howdy did a lot of people respond to that meme. OK OK I'll honor my end of the deal, just give me some time. You may have to come one at a time. We'll start of with commenter the first: Christine

4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).

Next post will include ( pics form slammin karaoke bash, bio the second, and pics of fab new hairdo!!)
This whole Myspace thing is blowing my mind. How the hell do you people get your profile page to look fancy? And what are you all really doing on there ayway? Are you SUPPOSED to sit around hunting for people you've forgotten you've forgotten? Is that the idea? Seems kind of unhealthy. Don't get me wrong. I see the point for musicians and artists who need to network and all that jive. But what the heck is up with the all the masses of hey look at me I got married pages? So you got married, big frigging woop. Why dont you run for president next because thats so goddamn impressive? Almost as impressive as you pumping out a child. Effing ding a lings. I think its pretty impressive that I have successfully avoided popping out any children. Go me! We should have birth control awards. (wheels turning) Anyway, I need more friends!! Is V. deppressing to look at Myspace page and see it say "Mary has 0 friends". WHat do they know, MAN!? Like that's totally subjective MAN.
Two to be exact. On Friday Bobleo and I stopped by our local Petsmart and adopted two adorable kittens. Originally I was dead set on getting two girls (less
trouble, fighting etc) but then I met these two loverboys and it was all over. Little gray kitty started trying to play right through the bars of his teeny kitten prison as soon as we were close to it. Orange was napping when we first met. When we woke him up he cuddled right into my arms and fell back to sleep. I couldn't leave him behind. So into a couple of boxes and away we went! For the last 3 days they have been non stop cuddles, cuteness and cat wrastlin. They both have very distinct personalities even now. It's so hard to settle on names!!
Orange kitten cried all the way home in the sweetest little sad kitten cry I've ever heard. I thought for sure he was a weeny but when we finally got home he was the first one to pop his head out of the box and touch noses with Gracie. (He hissed about 2 seconds later) So brave!! He is snuggly and sensitive but totally brave and looks out for his pain in the neck little bro.
Grey kitten is totally insane. He jumps around all hazy crazy, causes trouble, pounces orange all the time. And sneaks up on Gracies tail!! At the same time he's on edge a lot and gets spooked really easily. He'll run away if you startle him. And he's sooo very tiny. BUT he's got a lotta hootspah per square inch.
Poor Gracie doesn't know what to think. Her house, her crate, even her bed in the kitchen has been invaded by small, hissing balls of fluff. She wants to play with them sooo much but they just won't let her.
They are tons of fun. Will write more later. For now I have to go snuggle them more. :) :) :)
