Welcome to the Official Project Fugway Home Page!

What the Fug is Project Fugway?
Project Fugway is a totally fugging awesome contest to celebrate the beauty of all things fugly.  We're asking independent designers, crafters, hobbyists, hobos, whoever to hop on board and create the fugliest fashions they can.  Pictures of the many fugly creations will be posted here, on the Project Fugway Flickr Page, and on the Scribble Nation Blog as they are submitted.  At the end of the contest we'll hold a poll to see who will be elected the Supreme Fashionista (or Fashionister) of Fug!

Who Can Enter?
Pretty much anybody!  As long as you have a flair for fug you are fair game.

What Should I Make?
Your project can be anything from a simple accessory to a full-on fugly ensemble.  It can be sewn, knit, crocheted, stapled together, whatever you want!  The only rules are that the project must be clothing, it must be handmade (by you), it must be your original design, and of course, it must be fugging fugly. Oh, and one project per contestant please. (Though multiple items can be incorporated into one outfit.)

How Do I Enter?
Email me with 1-4 photos of your finished project, your name, address, email, and blog or shop (if you have one.)  Feel free to include a short bio or snippet telling us who you are.  I would be happy to accompany that info with your project. (Though I may edit some entries for size, if necessary.) All entries must arrive to me on or by June 1, 2008. We will open the polls on June 2, and run them until June 7. A winner, and two runners up will be announced on June 8, 2008.

OK, OK, That's All Gravy, But What Do We Win?!
Not only will the first place winner be elected The Supreme Fashionista (or Fashionister) of Fug, they will be receiving a brand new copy of Subversive Seamster.  This book was written by the lovely ladies of the Stitch Lounge. It contains tons of great project ideas for turning old thrift store finds into fun and funky new clothes.  The first place winner will also receive a Super Duper Surprise Goody Bag ala Scribble Nation.

Two runners up will be receiving Super Duper Surprise Goody Bags ala Scribble Nation and heaps of fugging glory!

*P.S. If anyone is interested in donating swag to the Super Duper Goody Bags being given as prizes for this contest please contact me! I would be thrilled to include your goodies, and will be sure to point out your generosity on my blog, and here on the Project Fugway page.

** Just to cover all my bases, I'd like to note that although my friends and I coined the phrase "Project Fugway" all on our own a few nights ago, we were NOT the first ones to use this term.  While combining the word "fugly" with the title of the ever popular series Project Runway is not rocket science, I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Hopefully the ladies at GoFugYourself will not mind sharing.  I'm not tooo concerned, considerng the ladies there probably have a million better things to do than worry about my silly little contest.  They are ultra fabulous after all.
